What is ENIConfig?
What is ENIConfig?
The ENIConfig, otherwise known as custom networking, is a Custom Resource Definition (CRD) introduced in v1. 2.1 of the CNI plugin. It allows you to specify the subnet and security groups you want to use for the pods running on a particular worker node.
What is CNI in AWS?
The Amazon VPC Container Networking Interface (CNI) plugin allows Kubernetes pods to receive native AWS VPC IP addresses. Because the CNI plugin is a core part of Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (EKS), the EKS team will continue to develop the project in collaboration with our partners and customers.
What is EKS Eni?
Amazon EKS supports native VPC networking via the Amazon VPC Container Network Interface (CNI) plugin for Kubernetes. The CNI plugin allows Kubernetes Pods to have the same IP address inside the Pod as they do on the VPC network. The CNI plugin uses Elastic Network Interface (ENI) for Pod networking.
What is Ipamd?
ipamd , which is a long-running node-Local IP Address Management (IPAM) daemon, is responsible for: maintaining a warm-pool of available IP addresses, and. assigning an IP address to a Pod.
Why does EKS use so many IPS?
As customers scale the EKS clusters and deploy more workloads, the number of pods managed by a cluster can grow easily above thousands of pods. Now, each of these pods will consume an IP address.
What CNI does EKS use?
Amazon EKS supports native VPC networking with the Amazon VPC Container Network Interface (CNI) plugin for Kubernetes. This plugin assigns an IP address from your VPC to each pod. The Amazon VPC CNI plugin is fully supported for use on Amazon EKS and self-managed Kubernetes clusters on AWS.
Why does EKS use so many IPs?
Which is better ECS or EKS?
When you need more networking modes – ECS has only one networking mode available in Fargate. If your serverless app needs something else, EKS is a better choice. When you want more control over your tooling – ECS comes with a set of default tools. For example, you can use only Web Console, CLI, and SDKs for management.
What is CIDR value?
Classless inter-domain routing (CIDR) is a set of Internet protocol (IP) standards that is used to create unique identifiers for networks and individual devices. The host identifier is used to determine which host or device on the network should receive incoming information packets.
Which is custom network solutions do you use?
Custom Network Solutions LLC. Account Management (AM) is a comprehensive solution for managing Microsoft Active Directory user accounts. AM can interface directly with Infinite Campus, MS SQL database or text file. Managing the user accounts in Active Directory is an ongoing challenge that every IT administrator faces in day-to-day activities.
When to use custom networking in Amazon EKS?
If you had any nodes in your cluster with running Pods before you switched to the custom CNI networking feature, you should cordon and drain the nodes to gracefully shutdown the Pods and then terminate the nodes. Only new nodes that are registered with the k8s.amazonaws.com/eniConfig label use the custom networking feature.
How to create custom subnets in Amazon VPC?
Create a subnet in your VPC for each Availability Zone, using your secondary CIDR block. Your custom subnets must be from a different VPC CIDR block than the subnet that your nodes were launched into. For more information, see Creating a subnet in your VPC in the Amazon VPC User Guide .
