How is the EAN-13 number calculated?
In the EAN-13 code, the first 12 digits of the number identify the item the code is attached to, and the final digit is a ‘check digit’. The check digit for an EAN-13 code is calculated as follows: Sum all the digits in even positions and multiply the result by 3.
