The best way to actually thin Vallejo paint is to use their own Airbrush Thinner. 25% Thinner to 75% paint (1 part thinner 3 parts paint) is a good starting point for a standard base coat. If it’s a standard base coat, I also add 2 drops flow improver for every 10 drops of paint.

FWIW, if you use Vallejo Thinner Medium in place of Airbrush Thinner, and add distilled water, you’ll have a great brushing thinner for Model Color… You can also use Liquitex, Grumbacher, or Golden Retarders and Flow Aids as well.
